Awesome video and great tips! Thanks man.
What is it actually?? Is graphic designing like drawing and creating a whole picture yourself or merging the pictures and editing them (though we'll have to do that ourselves too)? I mean is it like starting from a blank sheet or we have ready-made material to create a graphic design????? Whooa… it is hard to explain what I wanna ask…
You beauty ! Gorgeously upbeat video to fill me with confidence to make a start for myself. Thankyou! Wishing you all the best you star you 😉
Do have to use adobe. im starting out and cant afford it. Right now I. using Inkscape.
I didn't go to uni to be a Designer. Just keep doing it.
Hello! I'm a student at The Art Institute of Fort Worth and soon to be graduating! I'm not really passionate about graphic design but I do enjoy its festivity in creating new things. My real passion is cartoons and character designs, yet my school barely teaches that in my degree. At times I get fed-up about graphic design because its something that I not really want to do in life. You have any advice at what I should do?
i'm sorry, this is blasphemy. you learn so much more in school than people realize. it's not just something anyone can do. I'm not bashing you personally, but this is a flat out lie.
Hello will …. I just wanna ask you about the time lapse video you were illustrating a shoe in pinkish background … may you re upload it … i can't see it anymore 🙂
Hello Will
To be a graphic designer, do you need to know how to work in 3ds Max also?
Thanks 🙂
Hello Will,
I really see the proces you've gone trough. Your current video's are nowadays much cleaner. Good job! I really like them. Do you've got a tip on how to record yourself for youtube?
Do you know any successful or semi-successful designers yourself?
Hey Will, first of all thank you for great tutorials. I have been recently getting to know graphic design and I am thinking about doing it profesionally in the future. However I have protanomalous color-deficiency (for example these paintings look very similar to me http://blog.phillipscollection.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/VanGogh_colorblindSimulation.jpg
Protanomaly color spectrum : http://chroma-glass.ucsd.edu/assets/img/DifferentSpectrum.png ). Do you think there is a chance for me to succeed?
I suggest you get hands on your camera with everything in manual. It won't bug you, you'll learn all about it, and the control will all be on your hands.
About that Uni thing you say…. it's true. You don't have to go to uni for nearly any carrier. But you do need a lot of discipline. The reason why there are a lot of professionals —specially designers— that are getting their asses whooped by people who didn't go to uni is because these people knew better, they did their homework, and studied and practiced and got wet in design. The problem with designers that go out of college is that many think that, once graduated, they are all covered, but that isn't true. They are about 20% ready to face the real world. Unless you get your ass out there, and apply your theory rather than blindly rely on it, and see how it fails sometimes and works others, you won't stand a chance against self taught designers out there, because they learned on experience, and this is waaaay more valuable, so you should try and do that too. If you get moving fast enough, you will be able to get ahead of anyone who comes on your way.
There's a lot people here that keep asking about the tools: software and tablets, computers… guys, that is the least important. As long as you have paper and pencil, you are about covered. Some of the greatest logos out there are made with GIMP! The tools don't make the designer, they are just the fancy stuff, but a true designer can design with a pen and a napkin if he or she has to.
Wow hahaha Does your camera automatically do that, or was your camera man the one just getting used to it?
Hi, Will.. i had a question for you..
Do you use a wacom tablet to help you on illustrator? What else do you use besides your computer (obviously lol) i mean what other things do you use in your daily basis?
Btw thank you for making this videos.. thanks for your time, effort and kindness 🙂
You got a new fan from Colombia, South America 😀

Hi I make logos and overlays (cod related) instead of it becoming a job I want it to be a hobbie with extras like #YOUTUBEMONEY
Are you able to live off the money you make as a designer?
Hi! I just started on 99designs and I'm up to m first project. What do you suggest I do? Fork others or try to completely wipe out the competition with my own ideas? Do I have to follow something like a pattern or… I don't know I just started and I don't really know what to do.
I look up to your answer. 🙂
Hey Men!! like your video! gave me a boost of what I'm doing!! keep it up!
Well said 🙂
You are cute 🙂
i'm a talented graphic designer and even though i did not go to school for it i still want to get my bachelors degree because i have 3 little ones, i need to set an example letting my children know you can accomplish anything if you believe. i'm a graphic designer because i have a passion for it and i'm going to school for it for the sake of my children 🙂
Hey, I've just started a Uni course externally, it's a Bachelor of Creative Arts & Industries (New Media Design). I'm only two weeks into it but I'm not that interested, like I can't get into it because I'm home all the time and can't have that experience of going to lectures etc because I'm an external student. I play around online a lot with tumblr and photoshop because that's what I like to do cause I like to learn on my own terms and at my own speed. I just don't know what to do, I've signed up to do voluntary work by creating brochures and some new logos etc in my rural town which is easy but as soon as it comes to Uni and just procrastinate because its not what I want, subject wise. For example, I have to create a sculpture out of string or some kind of fiber, which is okay but not what I want to be doing. Do you have any advice?
thank you man – in the moment ive got divicultie on specializing on media or print graphic design and im struggling very badly
so you helped me understanding that it isn't the big deal what you officially learned but what you are able to
You are so.cute
Hey again 🙂 As you know I really wanna be a graphic designer, and as you said that you didnt go to uni, does that make clients more sketpical as you dont have a degree or qualifications? I know you are an absolutely great designer but I was wondering if that poses as an issue…Also, my parents are to keen on me becoming one as it is not great money, I was wondering if that is also an issue or if it is not a problem at all.. Thankyou so much for replying in advanced.
I am graphic designer just like you and I have a job on trainning I just following your good tips ^^
I see you work as a freelance designer?
Because I also have plan in working as a freelance graphic designer.. and kinda don't know where I am gonna start with.. please help! thank you 🙂
Your website doesn't work! =(
Brilliant videos by the way.
Thank you so much for your sweet and insightful videos! I applaud your willingness to share your experience with those of us not yet possessing the courage to make the leap from hobby to career. While I don't have the mettle yet, I've always had the penchant for design and feel a push towards pursuing those dreams as I watch your videos. Thanks again and God bless 🙂
Hey Will, awesome video! I've actually recently dropped out of my degree in business to pursue my first passion which is to become a graphic designer! I'm starting next year, but I'm really scared, as I worry about job and financial security (as it is really competitive!) How has that been for you? Also, lately I've just really been experiencing self-doubt as to whether I can actually succeed, and if my artwork is good enough – so tips to overcome that would be great!
Hey bortha, Do you live in UK? I'll study Graphic Designs in Coventry School of art and Design and I just wanted to know that am I getting money from being an designer in the future? 😀
The High Music Encourages to search for another video , Please take care of that in the future !
I'm mainly focused in branding. So magazines and advertisements and logos are all covered! 🙂
thanks man and by the way what type of graphic designer are you are you mainly focused around web design, logo design, or advertisements like banners and magazine covers?
Im only 12 but choose my GCSE's in january, I am thinking about doing digital design, graphic design (and 2 other normal subjects). Are them two good to do GCSE's in as I wish to be a Graphic Designer when im older! Love the vids aswell! Keep it up!
Dude… In every video you have commented on, you've been totally negative. I for one have time for people who criticise, but not for those who doing it for no other reason than to just bring people down.
If you don't like the videos, you don't have to watch them.
music is too loud. In every single video. try to avoid that…
