Im surprised it worked, you put your style tag after the head tag but before the body tag.

Why do you use IDs? why not reference the tag name?

The crazy thing about watching them in that order is that a lot of the stuff in HTML 5 makes the things learned XHTML pointless. Not to say that it isn't worth watching first, but I think it is funny that it worked out that way,

Canvas does not inherit the background from the parent, it's just transparent by default

i dont think so, but look through all his uploaded videos there is so many different series on so many different things.

You put the style outside of the head – surely a mistake?
Also, wouldn't it be better to put all the style, width etc inside a CSS file – or were you including style the html doc for demonstrative purposes, i.e. to simplify the explanation? -
