    When he spoke of the command line and semi colons . Did he mean that the command line for every query you have to put a semi colon , even for a single query ? or is it just for multiple queries ? Confused.

    I'm having an issue with this. Whenever I try to run several queries at once, it doesn't work. It only shows the last query. For example, when I type in
    "SELECT city FROM customers;
    SELECT id FROM customers;"
    it only shows the id's. What am I doing wrong?

    this is how I would teach this at school if I was a teacher. just fire up a small website and do interesting queries. right now I'm being taught by booooooooring sql statements…. 🙁

  22. Tamás Demeter Avatar

    SQL is a language. MySQL is an interpreter for it. Go back to lesson 1 🙂

    @truthIsStranger Yh that's true but i'm learning Database at Uni and they have never told us to use upper case for the sql keywords, I guess all environments are different but we can easily adapt to writing upper case 😉

  27. truthIsStranger Avatar

    @thaqalain10
    Notepad++ is a great tool, my favourite. But that's still an awful idea. If you try that in the corporate environment, like he said in the video, you could get canned. Remember not everyone is going to be using the same tools / IDE as you or even any tools at all; reading through any of that code in phpmyadmin or an interface of their own would be so difficult you'd be told to do it over again.

    @crazykyler005 It's the same thing regardless of whether or not you do it remotely or locally. He may not have the required stuff installed so it would be easier for him to just use his hosting plan to do it.

  31. Øyvind Ødegård Avatar

    Always write SQL keywords with uppercase letter! Thanks.

  32. Alexander Formoso Avatar

    Why MYSQL instead of ORACLE?

  33. Evaldas Blauzdziunas Avatar

    @xXxDiukexXx ok mr smarty pants, say me how to connect to database using C++ hm? Who's the retard -.-

  34. thaqalain10 Avatar

    Guys u can write sql in lower case, just use notepad++ and change the language to sql.
    This will make the sql words in the query bold and also colour coded so it makes it very easy to read, then you can just copy and paste into the sql query box. =)

    Whens the next one up Bucky?
