which is more optimized, several walls made with a cube brush, or several static meshes?
-
Was that "some guy" Travis from the android tutorials? That's the only series I know of, off the top of my head that has that many tutorials…
-

THUMBS UP IF ALL YOUR PROGRAMS TUTORIAL, IS BY the newboston
ME!!!!
-
By the way when he is trying to make sure the bridge piece is actually on the ground and not floating above it, a quick way to do that is to hit the "end" key on your keyboard and it automatically snaps down to what's beneath it.
-
my move tool is locked!!!!!
i cant do a thing in UDK now π -
mines fine
-
Something I haven't mentioned before, is that when I watch these tutorials I have to literally have my Youtube volume and my monitor volume on 100% to hear you well, I mean it's not much of a problem, just kind of shocking when I forget sometimes to turn it back down lol XD
-
Yes absolutely, I'm sure we all love Bucky's tutorials.
-
When Δ± add objects like that floor it seems white color how can i change that? cant see the original material
-
@franchyze922 The difference between a static mesh and a bsp brush is a static mesh is created in a alternate program such as Maya or 3DS Max static meshes are usually very detailed for example if you wanted to create a very detailed window then I dont think anybody would want to spend hours trying to make one with alot of brushes plus static meshes are one single object where as creating somthing very detailed usuing only brushes you would have to select all the brushes and move them at once
-
newb question. how are these static meshes any different from the materials we've been working with. Couldn't we have just built a floor like we did in the other videos and added textures?
-
You uploaded this video on my birthday! π
-
Ok so I wanted to show something to my friend on the material editor screen and I deleted some windows like the RGB thing at the buttom and the actual material viewer at the top left. Please, how can I make them back??
-
@alza6991 Do you mean the red brush? Just drag it out of the way.
-
HELP!!! in my browser and my game my Static meshes are to shiny!! i have no light but there just so BRIGHT
-
Does it resize the meshes to be appropiate to the UDK-Editor character? I mean if I take some models from a game, make a map, resize the models to be smaller and the import the map back to the game where I got the models, will the map be small?
-
man i thought this tutorial ended at no.28, couldn't find the rest in playlist…but no, now i can learn more π i've never been happier to give myself into learning as much as right now..u r a great teacher, i've covered java to adv, xhtml css javascript all in less than a week.. now on to UDK thx
-
@ymilner16 It worked, thanks for your help.
-
@AgentNebraska No problem mate π
-
@AgentNebraska It's weird, but try again to make an object (CSG add) then drag all meshes unto the cube.
OR
W hides static meshes, and Alt+W shows them.
-
@TheBrownDrag0n just look at the low right corner, uncheck the second one from the right
-
wepons π

Does anyone know how to have clear screen like he does. For example he has no red box on any of the screens. I don't know how to remove mine. It's really annoying
-
When I rotate an object it doesn't show it rotating and i can only rotate it 0, 90, -90 and -180 degrees and nothing in between, any help would be appreciated thanks.
-
@786RiDz click the arrow in the end of the viewports that doesnt work and go to show -> skeletal meshes hope that works for you π
-
The scaling type-in at the bottom right isn't working for me :S
-
@RIPixeI Thanks, what a lame problem -_-
-
@786RiDz Same here dude, but I can't see it anywhere but in the side view. Let me know if you get it figured out.
-
@RIPixeI THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!

For those having problem with static meshes not showing:
Just press CSG add for the red cube, then drag the mesh onto the cube.
It's because you need to apply a mesh to a material π
Please thumbs up, so people can learn from this tutorial. -
@CoDMaster011 Just press CSG add on the cube, then drag the mesh onto the cube.

Are you saying that these games are loadable into gaming consoles!!! AWESOME!!! You are awesome Bucky!!!
-
You clearly don't need to apologize, we are all grateful you keep doing those.
-
when i click and drag the mesh it dosent show up what am i doing wrong?
-
Bucky i have a question that I need to know the answer to if you get the time, in maya I made a model of a "Gilneas" house from the game known as WoW, and i colored it and all so that it looks just like the actual house in the game. However when I imported it into UDK, it lost all the color to it and is blue and white blocks. Do you have any idea why this happened or how to fix it ? thanks.
-
@thenewboston FUCK YEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! FUCKING LOVE YOU MAN!!!!
