You might wanna get your facts straight before you go preaching about MSG. Free glutamates found in things such as cheese, soy sauce, mushrooms, tomatoes, and yeast extract are not the same as MSG and glutamic acid is an essential amino acid. MSG is glutamate that's bound to sodium artificially. I have never seen MSG in sausages, deli meat, boullion, hot dogs, mushroom soup, or gelatin in the EU. Also just because foods like soy sauce and cheese have glutamates in it doesn't mean they're bad for you. What's bad for you is eating unhealthy foods with excessive amounts of MSG in them.

I went off MSG in 1977 when my husband told me they used it to clean the gel off silkscreens at his college. The gel is burned into the screen mesh with an arc lamp. To remove the burned on gel, you must use Acetone or MSG. We used Adolph's Meat Tenderizer, and it stripped the burnt on gel like butter. MSG. As strong as Acetone. Who would put that into their body?

It really should be illegal. Nasty stuff. Along with HFCS and a whole lot of other things. MSG is even worse for children because they are tolerant of a much smaller amount and the effects on their growing brains and bodies is unfathomable, but they ingest the same amount as adults in the foods they eat.(and people wonder why there is a growing number of behavioral issues in children, pouring msg, preservatives and colorants into them) Even though many people seem unaffected it's still an excito and neuro toxin which for one increases appetite, and may possibly alter decision making (I once read the big 'W' tries to get as many products on it's shelf with it in it which in turn means they sell more stuff because it affects mood. I wouldn't put it past these big companies to do just that). I never saw it's and HFCS effects on me until I stopped using them. If I get them now, I get a terrible drain, so tired like a truck run over me. It's truly a poison. Thanks for the tips regarding ibuprofen  and red bull….. just in case hubby who is severely sensitive to it gets some by accident we can hopefully minimize it's negative effects.

I read a bunch of dietary text books and lost 85 lbs so I guess I know a few things. Look at this video The Best Foods you can Eat on my YouTube channel. If you search for diet on it, you'll find a bunch more. The diet was created for people who don't exercise, but will work very well for anyone as long as you pay attention to calorie intake and lost calories through exercise. Feel free to ask questions

KFC is mainly made of MSG (that is the seasoning). I know someone from someone that works at the factory where they make it.

@BigWhiteTurkey Ever since I discovered I was allergic to MSG I haven't had a headache or stomach cramp. That was about a year and a half ago. I can't even believe I haven't one headache in that long. I totally agree that this stuff shouldn't be in food

@Liquadia1 MSG is in so many products it's unbelievable. I suffered from cluster headaches for most of my life because of them. If I could outlaw any additive it would be MSG
