In this video, we continue going through WordPress’ settings. This covers the Discussion, Media and Permalinks tabs.
The Discussion settings allow us to modify any settings regarding blog comments. The settings are self-explanatory, but one needs clarification: “Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks) on new articles”
Other blogs can send your site a notice that they linked to your article. Enabling this setting allows that site to be linked to automatically under your blog post. For spam protection reasons, we recommend turning off this setting.
Let’s look at the Media settings next. Every time you upload an image, WordPress automatically creates three different sizes. This area allows you to adjust the sizes.
Permalinks stand for “permanent links”. The settings allow you to modify the link structure of your site, including creating a custom structure.
When new plugins are installed, they’ll often add their settings in the main Settings area. For example, installing EmbedPress adds the “EmbedPress” sub menu item under the Settings menu link.
