Hi Derek, I am not finding the link for the non-messed up folder structure for SPen SDK. Can you please provide the same?.

  2. Susan Aryal Avatar

Don't you do tutorials for iOS? It would be better!

  3. Alireza Motevallian Avatar

    Great tutorial. Thanks for that.
Would you also provide a tutorial on file management (read/write) as it is a bit tricky on android.

  4. Andrew Pritykin Avatar

Signed up and ready to roll!

Is Android tutorial over..I was expecting google map, and Sherlock Action Bar tutorial..Disappointed

  6. Simon Higgins Avatar

Hi Derek,  could you cover how to include libraries in apps?

  7. Derek Banas Avatar

I test every IDE on numerous OSs pretty much every 2 weeks. Today actually I finally found that the Google ADT now installs on everything as long as Java 1.6 is used. That isn't true of Android Studio yet. When Google makes a version of AS that installs easily I'll use it. You can still use it with my tutorial though since there is little difference between eclipse and AS

  8. Derek Banas Avatar

Thank you very much. It is very nice to say that 🙂

  9. rlaspinas94 Avatar

will you ever be switching to android studio? since its developed by google specifically and will eventually replace eclipse

Derek, it is always a pleasure to see your videos. Wish you the best!

  11. Derek Banas Avatar

I didn't plan on it, but I added it to the list 🙂

Are you planning on doing anything with QR Code generation and reader using XZing?

  13. Derek Banas Avatar

Thank you for taking the time to say you enjoy the videos. I appreciate that 🙂 You're very welcome!

Derek just taking a moment to say Thank you, you are awesome, love your tutorials.
    Keep up the good work.

Ive removed the contact block, Derek. Sorry for that.

  16. Derek Banas Avatar

I did that about a year ago, but Twitter broke my code. I'll see what I can do. The process is easy, but it must be monitored

  17. R H Avatar

Derek, could you please upload a tutorial on how to use twitter apis in Android applications? I am aware of jtwitter and twitter4j but I am having trouble incorporating these apis in my application. A tutorial could really help !

  18. Derek Banas Avatar

Thank you 🙂 I'll add your requests to the list. Ill get to them as soon as possible

Derek! I love your videos and please please keep going at it!

I know this is a selfish question to ask, but will you be nice enough to teach us about NoSQL and android development, preferably Couchbase Lite?

I am really interested in the NoSQL development over the years and it seems that mongoDB and CouchDB is among the lead competitors. CouchDB just recently released a native version for the Android scene!

  20. Derek Banas Avatar

I test all of the Android IDEs every time they update. I promise I'll let everyone know when they actually work right out of the box.

Right on.. no more time wasted with that for now. I had the same feeling. I am waiting and it looks promising. In particular the cloud endpoints. I don't know anything about them yet but it is suppose to set them up for you. My app is going to use cloud messaging as a logistical support for referencing updates, and helping to decide what device to connect peer to peer when the point of the program calls. Any google videos would be awesome! Again thank you very much!

Just 2 days ago I tried to install it in a University computer lab with 80 different computers running numerous different OSs. It is still very buggy. It works most of the time, but I wouldn't tell anyone to use it until they fix the bugs. It brings nothing to the table that I can't already do with Eclipse Indigo. Most of the errors I get sent to me are because of people using either Android Studio or Eclipse Kepler. Just personal experience 🙂

  23. Derek Banas Avatar

I'm very happy that you are enjoying the videos. I'll be doing nothing but interface stuff for a while. Most of it will have little to do with the Samsung specific stuff. Next I'll cover Inkscape and then how to use it to make tool bars for Android and a bunch of other things. I'll cover everything eventually.

  24. Derek Banas Avatar

I tried to respond to your message, but you have contact block on so I can't send you a PM.

  25. Derek Banas Avatar

I will cover that topic. I want to cover interfaces first though

  26. Derek Banas Avatar

It is coming after I finish the regular Android stuff. I can't wait to start it either 🙂

  27. Donald Huebner Avatar

What do you think about android studio and are you planning to do explaination videos on that subject? I'm trying to switch from eclipse but it's tough just getting imports to work. Thanks again!

  28. Donald Huebner Avatar

You have no idea how fast I am learning watching your uploads! The amount of content is among greatness. Thank you very much. I have been having trouble with support map fragments in fragments displayed in the google sliding navigation menu. It would be awesome if you made videos on this subject explain the navigation menu and map fragments. Again, thank you very much Derek! I've started learning myself at 37!

Derek, what about android web services(php tutorials)????? You said you would be covering that…

  31. Derek Banas Avatar

I'm going to hold a vote on what follows the Android and c tutorials. Over the next month I'll finish them both and then I'll start Android games, plus the tutorial you guys vote for.

  32. Derek Banas Avatar

You're very welcome 🙂 I answer every message that I get, but on occasion it seems like some don't get to me. I get over a hundred a day, so maybe YouTube messes up every once in a while

  33. Phaedrus Avatar

Thanks for the video, Derek. I've just started following this video series. Also, did you happen to see my PM? I sent it about a week ago.

  34. Derek Banas Avatar

We are more then half way through. I basically will make nice interfaces, and cover google maps, touch controls and a couple other random things I've missed. After that is done with I'll make android games for a few months. I'm glad you're enjoying them

  35. 123japanuser Avatar

    Dear Coach ,
My Christmas came early . This is just SUPERB.
Just curious are we half way through Android ?
Take Care and best wishes in all what you do.

  36. Derek Banas Avatar

You're very welcome 🙂 Thanks for watching

  37. Derek Banas Avatar

Use what ever works for you. My setup is just the least buggy in comparison to everything I tested on.

  38. Tony Bilby Avatar

HEy Derek, Is it required that we run ARM because I get a memory allocation error every time i try to use that, same with atom, but MIPP (sp?) loads.. will this cause me problems later on do you think?

  39. Derek Banas Avatar

My channel is super small. I have a ton of subscribers, but most aren't active. I described the type of videos I want to see in the article for this video. The goal is not so much to make the greatest app, but instead to help others learn about developing. Think about keeping everything simple. I'm open to anything. I'll mainly judge based on effort as well.
