I’ve received numerous requests from you to create a Minecraft Modding Guide. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to setup everything you need to start making mods for Minecraft.
The steps are specific to the Mac platform, but everything is very similar for PCs. Actually it is easier to do this on a PC.

mine says in terminal, after i type "bash decompile.sh" it does some stuff, then says decompile failed

i got all the java files accesed however when i run in jGrasp 100 errors occur

I've heard about this a couple of times. I think this will fix it. You have to copy both bin and resources into the MCP jars folder and then run decompile.bat I hope that fixes it

Yes there shouldn't be any problem with that
modloader isnt out for 1.4.2 is it ok to not update but have a clean jar?
quick addon for windows users im pretty sure instead of ls you use dir to list the contents of the folder your in
First try running updatemcp.sh and if that dosn't run, download mcp client and put all contents in the jars folder. If this fails try to clean up everything you have done and re-install. I have everything in a step by step format on my site.
Are you certain that you upgraded Minecraft at the very beginning? That is where most errors come from. I'll do my best to help. Are you on a Mac or PC?
Thanks, but I think you couldn't do that on a Mac for some reason. I thought I had definitely tried that. Maybe I'm wrong?
@derekbanas it is simpler to just rename minecraft.jar to minecraft.zip then extract it.
You need to have your own copy of Minecraft
If it uses minecraft in eclypse, will that give us free minecraft or just use the minecraft we already have?

Are you certain that you updated Minecraft first? That is the source of almost every issue
I did everything in the video but in eclipse I have errors in a few files. The error is when java is tries to import Modloader
Surprisingly you can do some pretty amazing things without completely understanding Java. That is the power of object oriented programming and nice software like Minecraft. Soon I'll teach how to make great games like Minecraft if you're interested in that
