I took this test 2x (once where only a or b could be selected, and once where both could be selected and were both worth 1), and in both cases I got an exact split of all letters. A literal 50/50 split. Even with the explanations given here I seem to be split. Is this an uncommon occurrence?

Hmm.. I'm an INTP (almost every test I've ever taken including this one you presented tells me as much) and I definitely agree. I think my wife is an ESFJ, so yeah.. I wish love was more logical..
I am curious what your type is. When I was younger I scored that I was an INTP, but I think that was due to wanting to more of a desire of what I wanted to be and a lack of social interaction in those years. Now that I am in college I score ENTP and I truly think it fits me more if I am honest with myself.
ISTJ/ESTJ is this what i got but i skip 3 questions and the explanation you gave end of this i think that it did not suit me because i do some different things than ISTJ/ESTJ

That's interesting. Your results may have something to do with the inventor personality which is quite rare. I'll look into that.
By defaulting to the right on my even answers I got Genius. Which doesn't really fit.
ReTested and came up ENTP Female Inventor. Which all but one trait fits.
Also, I am more of an Introvert than Extro.

I'm a recipe follower. One way to turn yourself into more of an extrovert is to force yourself to do exciting things. Things like bungee jumping, skydiving, etc.

I did my best to make the results useful and yet didn't make assumptions that wouldn't be true. It is a combo between a bunch of professional tests. I'm sure it isn't perfect, but I don't think the professional expensive tests are perfect either
I think you did a good job at simplifying the questions without really altering the results, but you may have over-simplified the explanation.

Yes after a major life event. It doesn't have to be extreme. Let's say you previously always looked for a trusted expert that that you felt was honest in the past. Then you are ripped off by a crooked salesman to the point in which you lost an uncomfortable amount of money. That may make you decide to study the facts yourself from then on. The opposite could easily happen if you lost money based off of not understanding what you thought were facts
