The Hardest Puzzle Game The Witness 2

[ad_1]
Next Live Stream is tomorrow at 7PM EST

You guys told me you wanted me to continue with The Witness and so I shall in this live stream. Wow, wow, wow this game just got very hard!!! First it has me solve puzzles blind and then moves on to having me solve mirrored versions of puzzles upside down. This is easily the hardest game I have ever played. Dark Souls 3 has nothing on this. The only game that drove me this crazy was Super Meat Boy.

Thank you to everyone that joined me during the live stream. You helped keep me sane. The learned my lesson to not let this game sit for too long and will play again tomorrow at 7PM EST. See you then. PLEASE 🙂

the last part was straight up painful to watch

I love how you've dubbed the "trial and error" method to "brute force". The programmer in you is showing.

Derek, if you run into puzzles that are like these. If you right them out on paper with a maker exactly how you solved them. Then just flip the paper over, and if need be rotate to match the mirror rotation that is needed for the next side/puzzle.

    Derek,

This is in no way intended to imply I don't think you're sharp as a tack, but watching you do these puzzles makes me more confident as a programmer. I always thought of you as super brilliant because of your tutorials and the incredible skillset you demonstrate on a teachable level. Sometimes I get discouraged because programming is SO much to learn, and I see my peers immediately grasp concepts that may take a while for me to latch onto and use.

Knowing you have a level of knowledge that'll take me 1000s of hours to acquire, if I even get there, it's cool to watch you get stuck on a logical/visualization problem that seems obvious to me for a change.

I really love what you do. Almost everything you cover is right at my speed and it's incredibly comprehensive. You've made my life so much easier by figuratively replacing my teachers.

    Seriously. Thank you

When he gets stuck for several minutes on a single puzzle that I solved quickly, I practically yell at the screen in frustration, or when he gets lost on the paths and ends up being clueless

Derek can you do a video with a channel update explaining your move to gaming content, and the future og your work? Im personally subbed for the programming vids, like I think many others are. what should we expect?
    Have a great day! 🙂

Well helllllloo there Derek; I recommend you the game Stories Untold. It is a textbased horror game with quite interesting concept and arts. Just in case you need something to come down after you played The Witness _

Oh man, I yelled when you said that you were color blind. haha I almost do that every time someone says that :). I don't feel left out on how I see the world lol 🙂 this is an awesome game.

I find it interesting how different people are. I breezed through Symmetry in no time, but I got stuck in the Pink Trees because I couldn't figure out how I was supposed to figure out the panel solutions.

I'm curious how you will do with the purely logical puzzles in certain areas (won't name them as to not spoil anything.) I look forward to seeing you play this game.

I love this game so very much. I wish I could forget everything about it and play it all over again as a newbie. Enjoy the ride!

5:39 At that moment, I think I remembered you mentioning you were colorblind from the previous video, does that mean you can't see some colors in the game as well? Though watching the next puzzle, you seem to not having such trouble.

You still did not notice the fun part of this game.
Once you notice it you won't be able to stop!
But no spoiler (once you see it you will know it)
Also you don't have to do ALL the puzzle to be able to open the ending stuff, you only have to complete 8 laser if I'm not mistaken the number.

I'm just going to shut my mouth.

these live streams are great, especially with the witness! 🙂 I think the last one was flipped because the cable going there was flipped as well (or at least that could've been a clue, but it's really hard to notice)

Why do you plan to do your video game tutorials on Unity? Cryengine V has also native C# Support and you have even access to the engines source code. Cryengine V is a beast compared to Unity Personal.

at the time 01:01:30 I was like WTF…….. THIS IS SO FREAKING EASY…… I GOT FRUSTRATED WATCHING THIS, THEN WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED TO THE GUYS WHO WATCHED IT LIVE……..

This was my favorite game of 2016. Some very tough but satisfying puzzles!

i cant believe that you kno how to code but dont kno how to do this, omg.

    ITS UPSIDE DOWN OMG

  19. Saladon89 Avatar

wow dude, its ez, spent majority of the vid on that last piece

Yeah that's why I suggested Talos Principle. The puzzles are fun and the payoff is greater (well depends, 3ish different endings). This game is beautiful and challenging…but IMO, the payoff is meh. Is gorgeous though for sure!! Wasn't super into this type of puzzle though.

You mentioned that you like to solve mazes by going backwards. There is a good reason for doing that. I used to make mazes for fun with pencil and paper when I was a kid and I discovered the best way to make frustrating mazes to to have multiple paths that are dead ends and dont re-enter the puzzle. The best way to cheat dead ends is to go backwards as that will give you only one path to the beginning that will never branch off.

Id like to suggest the Hitman series of games. Its sort of like a combination of a shooter and a puzzle game. It is possible to just go in shooting but it is almost impossible to complete the mission that way so you have to figure out ways of sneaking in places that involve using the environment to sneak in weapons and infiltrate undetected.

I haven't finished watching yet but it's awesome

Derek, with the witness you need to question everything, the answers are in front (or behind you). It's an oddly spiritual game. Very clever.

you might wanna change the description from Horizon Zero Dawn to The Witness. BTW I love your tutorials
