<!Doctype html> is all that I see with the exception of the w3school website and a few older websites that have been around for while that I've checked out. So I don't think the strict/transitional rules are really necessary anymore so maybe it's up to the web content creator as to what format is used.

    isn't <!doctype html> valid and indicating html5 ?
and if anyone knows, is this series teaching html5?

  21. raterake Avatar

But if you view the page source for this page the doctype just says <!DOCTYPE html>
    what's that about?

  22. Charles Paroissien Avatar

doctype isnt that complicated to understand its like the <script type="text/javascript"> for javascript, only doctype is for html
It's just a signal that is given to the browser saying that its html code ._.
